Problem

The implementation of a new practice management system required a new organisational design for the Finance group.

Process

  • Understood current stakeholder perspectives and the organisational impacts of the new system through a workshop.
  • Conducted interviews with key managers to understand the situation and their issues at the coal-face.
  • Prepared the change proposal document and validated the findings with the executive and the managers.
  • Maintained regular communication with key stakeholders on progress, issues and findings. This included the CFO, his direct reports and the Project Director.

Outcome

The change proposal has been accepted and the new organisational structure is being implemented. Further work is being undertaken to design roles and responsibilities at deeper levels in the organisation.

Concerns expressed by the COO regarding the operation and quality of service being provided by a key information management group. Our role was to assess the current operation’s effectiveness, advise an improvement strategy and assist in its implementation.

A suite of ageing, in-house software programs for asset management needed to be replaced with an integrated Enterprise Asset Management technology platform. The engagement required a business case justification of the investment, an RFP, evaluation framework, selection process and implementation planning.

The university strategy required each operational division to engage with it and develop their strategy to ‘breathe life into it’. Our engagement was to design and deliver a comprehensive framework and process to develop the Finance, FM and IT strategic plans and align them with university strategy.
